Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All categories of care and services were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation: It was observed that the emergency food and water was insufficient and expired.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure to have sufficient emergency supplies to respond to and recover from an emergency and that items are checked regularly to ensure they are not expired.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19090 - CCLR s.57(2)(c) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation: It was noted there were multiple days in March and April 2024 where the departure times were not recorded.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure to record the departure times for all children in attendance.

Comments

At the inspection dated April 16, 2024 there were 7 children and 1 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The Manager will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer. The Licensing Officer will review the response. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed. This inspection and the risk assessment were written on site and reviewed with the Manager, a copy was provided via email.

The following education/recommendations were provided:
- Reportable Incident online reporting.
- Certificate validation.
- Criminal record checks.
- Diaper change mat.
- Contacting licensing, if licensing officer is not available, contact the duty line at 604-587-3936.
