Introduction

A scheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP).
The following areas were reviewed for compliance:
- Licensing
- Physical Facility
- Care and supervision
- Hygiene practices
- Program
- Child emergency records
- Reporting

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12430 - CCLR s.56(1)(b) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (b) for each employee, the records required under section 19 (1) [character and skill requirements].
Observation: On review of Manager file, Licensing observed that the criminal record check clearance had expired in March 2020. Manager is the only staff currently working at the facility. Manager was unaware and stated that she will apply for a new one tonight
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure files are regularly audited for accuracy and up to date information.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must have all of the following: (b) an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation: Licensing observed that the fire drill had not been practiced since February 2020. Manager stated that this has been the last thing to mind during the pandemic.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure safety procedures are still followed as required in Section 22 and record compliance. Please ensure a fire drill is conducted this month.

Summary of Inspection
At today’s inspection there were 7 children and the Manager present.

Licensing reviewed the facility’s COVID-19 prevention strategies and noted the following:
- Health and safety system in place in response to Pandemic
- Social distancing is encouraged
- Outdoor play is daily but not using the school playground/field

At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified.
Licensee is required to submit a corrective action plan to address the contravention/s
Licensing will review the corrective action plan
As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed and a copy was provided.

Facility has been receiving Licensing Officer’s emails.
