Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted on December 7, 2023, to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSOP).

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.
Observed Violations
RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: 6 children files were reviewed; 1 child's emergency contact was missing. Staff was not aware the child was missing the contact.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure all children have an emergency contact in case parents cannot be reached in emergency situations. Staff understands why we ask for another contact other than parents and will ask the family for an emergency contact.

At today’s inspection there were 10 children, and 2 staff present. At this inspection the above contraventions were identified. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed. This inspection report was reviewed with the staff on site and written off-site. It was emailed to the facility two days later.
