Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: Licensing observed pieces of wood craft were placed next to the stove posing a fire hazard.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that healthy and safe environment is provided to children in care.

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: Licensing observed during inspection that one of the electric switches in the main play room on the wall next to entrance door was missing the top part that cover the switch.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure facility is clean and in good repair.

Comments

At the inspection dated October 10, 2019, there were 6 children with the licensee. Total 13 children are enrolled in the before & after school care. Licensee stated some children attend on drop in basis. This inspection report was written off site. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy was mailed to facility address.
Upon review of policies and procedures, licensing discussed that licensee needs to revise and update the policies. The policies are to share with the families.
A response in writing is required to be submitted to Licensing by the date below, outlining how the contravention(s) have been addressed.
