Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12190 - CCLR s.22(2)(b) - A licensee must ensure that each employee (b) practices implementing the fire drill system at least once each month.
Observation: Fire drill log has not been maintained for last few months.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that fire drill is practiced and log maintained on a monthly basis.

STAFFING: 12200 - CCLR s.22(2)(c) - A licensee must ensure that each employee (c) practices implementing the emergency plan at least once each year.
Observation: Emergency Plan log has not been maintained.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that emergency plan log and implementation is maintained on an annual basis.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19080 - CCLR s.57(2)(b) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.
Observation: Date of enrollment was missing from all the files checked
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that record of date of enrollment is maintained in each of the children's files.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: One of the children's file had medical practitioner name and phone number missing
Corrective Action(s): Ensure all the records in children's files are maintained.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19160 - CCLR s.57(2)(i) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (i) a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency.
Observation: All the files checked did not have a photograph or digital image of the child.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that a photograph or digital image is available for each child.

Comments

Summary of Inspection:
On the inspection date of January 11, 2022 there were no children present as the care has been transferred on-line. Licensing met with manager to conduct the routine inspection. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee is required to submit a corrective action plan to address the contraventions. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.
