208 - Foods obtained from unapproved sources [s. 11]
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): A 20L container of yogurt was made on-site. Yogurt was stored in a Bungee Vegetable Ghee container.
Corrective Action(s): All foods must be from approved sources. Currently, only a facility which has a Dairy Licence from the BCCDC is permitted to make yogurt. Yogurt was discarded at the time of inspection.

209 - Food not protected from contamination [s. 12(a)]
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): 1) Foods were stored in opened metal cans.
2) A bowl of red sauce was stored uncovered on the floor in the walk-in cooler.
Corrective Action(s): 1) Once metal cans are opened, foods must be transferred to good grade containers with proper covers. Items were transferred to food grade containers at the time of inspection.
2) Ensure foods are stored off the floor and protected from potential contamination. Item was discarded by the operator at the time of inspection.

Observation: Black flies were found in the kitchen by the upright freezer unit.
Corrective Action(s): Contact pest control services to eliminate flies. Fly population can also be controlled by proper cleaning and sanitizing of walls, equipment, and other surfaces in the facility.

Comments

-Walk-in cooler was at 4C.
-Walk-in freezer was at -15C.
-Prep cooler was at 4C.
-Front Coca-Cola cooler with items labelled Keep Refrigerated was at 4C.
-Upright freezer was at -18C.
-3-compartment sink set-up with bleach and tested at 200ppm.
-Handwash station supplied with hot and cold running water, liquid hand soap, and single use paper towels.
-Bleach sanitizer pail tested at 200ppm.
-General sanitation satisfactory at the time of inspection. Ensue staff are cleaning areas under equipment on a daily basis - knife was found under the prep cooler.
-Washroom clean and well maintained.
-Facility currently has Health Approval to produce the following items for off-site sales: Milk Badam, Mango Lassi, and Red Sauce. Health Approval must be granted prior to sale of other food items off-site. Health Approval to produce these items for off-site sale may also be revoked, if the restaurant is in contravention of the Food Premises Regulation.
-Operator FoodSafe Level 1 issued in 2002 - certificate will expire on July 29, 2018. FoodSafe Level 1 certificates must be valid/not expired to meet the FoodSafe Level 1 requirement.
