Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Rice in one hot-holding unit was below 60 degrees C (at 52 degrees C) for more than 2 hours.
Corrective Action(s): Aforementioned rice was discarded by staff member. A new batch of rice was being heated during the inspection. Ensure rice is hot-held at or above 60 degrees C to help prevent foodborne illness.

Observation: Flies were observed in the back storage area and near the dry storage area across from the ware-washing area.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure the food premises is kept free of flies; Correct immediately. Continuing with cleaning measures to prevent food residue on floor. Recommended: Install pest control devices (e.g. blue light or skicky traps) to help capture flies. Make sure any fly traps are however installed in areas that are not directly above food storage, equipment storage, or food preparation areas to protect food from contamination.

Observation: Lid of ice machine was not intact. Ice machine was covered with plastic wrap.
Corrective Action(s): Repair/replace/re-secure the lid to the ice machine; Correct by November 22, 2019.

Comments

Handsink was adequately supplied with liquid soap, hot and cold running water, and paper towels.
3-compartment sink was operational.
100 ppm chlorine sanitizer was available in the third compartment sink and bucket with a wiping cloth. Chlorine test strips were available on-site.
Delivery for QUATS sanitizer is tomorrow according to a staff member. QUATS chemical test strips were available on-site.
Walk-in-cooler and prep. cooler were at or below 4 degrees C.
Walk-in-freezer and under-the-counter freezer temperatures were satisfactory.
Drinks cooler was above 4 degrees C (at 9 degrees C); Make sure it is used only for non-potentially hazardous food (e.g. pop only) unless it is maintained at or below 4 degrees C.
Other hot-held food was at or above 60 degrees C.
No signs of recent rodent activity was evident at the time of inspection.
A staff member on shift had a valid FOODSAFE level 1 certificate.
Fraser Health FOODSAFE Level 1 course schedule was provided to another staff member as they were interested in registering for a FOODSAFE Level 1 course to renew their FOODSAFE Level 1 certificate.
