Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSOP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11200 - CCLR s.17 - A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation: LO observed the following:
Various cleaning supplies were stored under the sink in the main play area. This cupboard was not locked and was accessible to the children.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that cleaning supplies are stored safety out of children's reach.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19090 - CCLR s.57(2)(c) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation: Not all children onsite today were signed into the program shortly after their arrival.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that children's current records are kept.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: 3 children's files were reviewed; 1 child's Dr's information was missing.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that all children's files are complete.

Comments

On the inspection date of February 14, 2022, there were 6 children and manager present. At this inspection, above noted contraventions were identified. The Licensee is required to address the contraventions noted to bring the facility into compliance and submit your written response to Licensing by below date.
This report was reviewed and discussed with the manager onsite. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed. This inspection and the risk assessment were emailed to the facility the same day.
LO had discussion with the Manager, re: response to Covid-19
-In event the facility is closed due to staff shortage, i.e. unable to maintain staff:child ratio, submit a Reportable Incident to Licensing
