Introduction

A scheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: Licensing observed a toy shelf in house keeping play area that was wobbly and needs to be secured.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure a healthy and safe environment to be provided to children at all times while in care.

Comments

At the inspection dated March 8, 2021, there were 18 children in attendance with 3 staff. At this inspection, the above noted contraventions were identified. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed.
A response in writing is required to be submitted to Licensing by March 12, 2021, outlining how the contravention(s) have been addressed. A follow up inspection may be conducted due to the nature of the contraventions.

Licensing staff discussed use of DIN consent with parent’s consent and briefly reviewed Covid-19 infection control strategies and protocol.
Licensing staff completed Risk Screening –Covid -19 prior to inspection. This inspection report was written off site. A copy of inspection report and the risk assessment will be mailed to the facility.
