Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
No violations were found during the inspection.

Comments

At the inspection dated Nov. 04, 2022 there were 8 children and 2 staff present.The manager also arrived on-site and assisted with the inspection. At this inspection, no contraventions were identified. This report was reviewed with the facility manager during the inspection. This is the first routine inspection of the facility since being licensed.

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

The following education/recommendations/discussions were provided:
- Reportable Incident procedures, which is to be reported within 24 hours. Child care staff are asked to call their Licensing Officer to make the report. If the Licensing Officer is unavailable, please call the Duty Line Licensing Officer.
- Continue to document minor incidents using the incident log bound book, and take note of any illness and unexpected events involving children not requiring medical attention, and that are not reportable incidents as described in Schedule H and staff to initial and write the date/time after each documentation
- Continue to clean and sanitize the facility including toys and equipment
- Continue hand hygiene procedures
- Remove all items with a DIN # in the first aid kit, as parent’s permission is required before using these items on children. Mild soap and water can be used to clean any minor cuts or scrapes.
- Spacing of mats and beddings
- Licensing was originally denied entry and waited for more than 15 minutes outside the facility. Please ensure that when Licensing arrives on-site at anytime, that all staff know to not obstruct Licensing entering the facility. During inspection, this was discussed with all the staff present as well as the manager.
