Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA) and the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.
Upon arrival, 10 children were in care with one staff and the manager.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: Licensing observed that a clear plastic dome in the outdoor play space is cracked. Most of the cracks have been covered; however, there is a small uncovered section with jagged pieces that could pose a risk of injury.
Corrective Action(s): The manager confirmed that a replacement dome has been ordered. The manager stated that she will cover the jagged piece today.

During this inspection, the above noted contravention was identified. As part of this Routine inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed.
The information contained in the report was discussed with the manager.
The following was discussed:
- earthquake preparedness
- floor plan/toilets/sinks
- immunization
- hand sanitizer protocols
Licensing emailed a copy of the report and the risk assessment to the facility.
