Introduction

An unscheduled follow-up inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11230 - CCLR s.47 - A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.
Observation: During inspection Licensing noted that the water in the Preschool classroom was measured at 56 degrees celsius. Manager explained that the plummber came and the temperature was adjusted on the hot water tank, it was then at 49 degrees celsius. The Manager stated that they will again contact the building manager and the plummber to bring down the water temperature.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49 degrees celsius.

Summary of Inspection
At the inspection dated March 12, 2021 there were 4 children and 1 staff present, 1 staff arrived with 1 child and later 5 children arrived with 1 staff from school. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The Manager will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer. The Licensing Officer will review the response.

Items reviewed from last routine have been corrected and the Manager has stated that the water temperature will be monitored.
