An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). Evidence for this report was based on the Licensing Officer’s observations, review of the facility records and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.

As part of the routine inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. The Risk Assessment includes non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year “historical” review of the facility’s compliance and operation.

A discussion took place with the Licensee/Manager regarding the recent submission of a temporary placement application. The Licensee is requesting to have 3 children under 24 months. The length of time of the temporary placement would be for 6 weeks, the expiry date noted on the temporary placement is October 28, 2018. Once the expiry date has been reached, there will only be 2 children under 24 months which meets the legislative requirements for Family Child Care. The Licensee does not engage in field trips, however does frequent a local park. A double stroller is present for the younger children, the older children can walk the short distance to the park. Based on the information submitted, Licensing does not have concerns regarding this temporary placement, and will go ahead and approve the application. The start date for the temporary placement is for Tuesday September 25, 2018, with an expiry date of October 28, 2018. |
