Introduction

A scheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). Today’s inspection focused on the physical facility and health and hygiene systems to ensure the safety of children during Covid-19 pandemic.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: Licensing observed a portable swimming pool filled with water in the outdoor play area. Licensee stated that the pool is for family use only and out during summer time. This pool is accessible to children during outdoor play time and poses a health and safety risk.
Corrective Action(s): Please provide a written health and safety plan to ensure children do not have access to the swimming pool.

Comments

At the inspection dated August 6, 2020, there were four children in attendance with Licensee. At this inspection, the above noted contraventions were identified. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed. A response in writing is required to be submitted to Licensing, outlining how the contravention(s) have been addressed. A follow up inspection may be conducted due to the nature of the contraventions.
Covid-19 prevention strategies, daily health check & the requirement of posting a safety plan was discussed today. Licensee said that they shared all Covid-19 resources with parents that were sent from Licensing. However, the facility needs to create and post a safety plan indicating their policies and protocol to prevent the infections. Covid-19 resources/posters were shared today.
This inspection report was written off site. A copy of inspection report and the risk assessment will be mailed to the facility. Licensing staff completed Risk Screening –Covid -19 prior to this inspection.
