Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSOP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11230 - CCLR s.47 - A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.
Observation: The hot water temperature for the washroom sink measured 56.5 degrees Celsius and poses a risk of scalding injury.
Corrective Action(s): As per requirements, please ensure hot water temperature does not exceed 49 degrees Celsius to ensure the children's health and safety.

Comments

Summary of inspection:
On the inspection date of January 23,2020, there were 7 children in care with 1 staff present at start of inspection and one child arrived a short time later. The Manager also arrived a short time later to assist with the inspection.
At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Actions required by the licensee includes a corrective action plan to be submitted and action required by Licensing Officer includes reviewing the corrective action plan. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

Promoting Active Play in the program
Active Supervision
Lead in the Water
Reportable Incident Notification including notifying Duty Licensing Officer. Manager to ensure staff is aware of requirements.
