Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All designated areas of the facility from where the childcare operates were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must have all of the following: (b) an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation: At this time emergency supplies could not be located.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure supplies are available and readily assessible and easy to transport. Licensee to relocate supplies when acquired to downstairs and will obtain a wheeled container.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19060 - CCLR s.57(1)(a)(b)(c) - A licensee must keep current records for each child showing (a) the information set out in subsection (2), (b) if applicable, the information and agreements set out in subsections (2.1) and (2.2), and (c) the consents referred to in subsection (3).
Observation: At the time of inspection authorized pick up information was missing for a record reviewed.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure information is current and complete regarding authorized pick up.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19070 - CCLR s.57(2)(a) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation: At the time of this inspection a record reviewed did not have immunization status indicated..
Corrective Action(s): Ensure immunization status for each child attending is known.

Comments

At the inspection dated March 20, 2019 there was 1 child present and 1 staff. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Actions required by the licensee and actions required the LO are included in the report. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy will be provided.. Tour of the home upstairs was completed. Childcare is designated to the lower level of the home only. Discussed resources that were previously emailed regarding Active Supervision and Reportable Incident procedures.
Outdoor Area
Discussed relocating the gate latch higher to ensure children are not able to reach. Licensee agreed.
