Introduction

Unscheduled follow-up inspection to the routine conducted in Sept, 2017

Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR #DCAR- AQSP4C have been corrected.
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11440 - DLSOP Safe Play Space (ground surfacing [b9]) - [bullet 9] The playground surface must be free of standing water and debris, such as poorly placed rocks, tree stumps, and tree roots that could cause a child to trip and fall.
Observation: At inspection of the enclosed designated outdoor playarea it is observed that the area consists of many branches and other debris causing potential tripping hazard
Corrective Action(s): please ensure the yard is available for use daily as outlined in the DOLSOP for periods of active play approximately 1 hour.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: one of four children's files now contain the name and contact information of the medical practitioner.
Corrective Action(s): please ensure children's documentation is complete to include Dr name and contact information.

Comments

Discussed ensuring facilities policies are implemented , licensee stated that the daycare would close for personal illness , Licensee informed LO due to illness the kitchen area and yard have not been tidied. The licensee plans to forward a photo of both these areas by Nov 15, 2017 to demonstrate the level of cleanliness maintained on a regular basis.
Also discussed ensuring children are provided rest periods in the designated nap space.
All other areas were suitably addressed , enclosed area under deck restricts access to this area and allows for additional storage space.
Emergency supplies are now replenished and readily accessible.
