At this inspection dated May 4th, 2020 there were16 children and 4 staff present. Manager was on site and assisted LO with today's inspection. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee is required to provide a written response by below date, including how areas found to be in non-compliance are addressed. The contravention noted in this report were reviewed with the manager during today's inspection. This inspection report was completed off site (0.5 hr) and emailed along with the Risk Assessment to the facility the same day.
The following education/recommendations were provided in regards to:
-Cleaning and Sanitizing Practices
-Health & Hygiene Practices ( Handwashing, Cough and Sneeze Etiquette)
-Physical Distancing Ideas
-Precautions and Practices for Sick Children
-Emergency Consent Cards
LO provided the Resource Package for Child Care Facilities COVID-19 Prevention, including:
-Educational Hand Washing Posters
-Cleaning and Disinfecting in Childcare Setting
-Guidance in the Selection of Cleaners, Sanitizers or Disinfectants
LO observed and discussed the following with Manager /staff on site:
- Reference letters within staff's file: to conduct reference check and document indicating that character references were obtained in respect of the person by the licensee or manager as part of the hiring process
-Sunscreen: safe and hygienic sunscreen application must be practiced with children to avoid any cross contamination/ spreading germs
-Water Temperature: monitor and ensure that heated water accessible to children are no more than 49 degree Celsius at all times
- First Aid Kit: to remove all expired items with DIN #; a further discussion was had about requiring parent’s permission before using any items with DIN # on children
- Medication: Manager and staff are aware of medication expiry dates
