Observation: Container of pearls at room temperature.
Corrective Action(s): Operator's food safety plan does not indicate storing pearls at room temperature.

302 - Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces not properly washed and sanitized [s. 17(2)]
Observation: Dipper well still broken, staff said that they 'wash' the scoop between uses by rinsing. Spoon noted in one of sinks in the front service area. Ice machine also have pink and black mildew build-up inside and some crusting and slime on the outside of the unit.
Corrective Action(s): Scoops for ice cream are to be stored in cold running water of dipper well. Ensure spoons and utensils used to stir/make drinks are properly washed and sanitized between uses (ie. put through dish washer), not just rinsed in sink. Immediately discard ice and have all the parts of the ice machine (inside and out) thoroughly cleaned and sanitized.

Observation: Scoop for ice noted in ice. Staff said that they are aware they should not be storing the scoop for the ice in the ice but got busy.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure scoop for ice is kept outside of the ice.

Observation: Some cleaning has been completed, but dust build-up and food debris still noted along perimeter of the walls (behind cooler/freezer units and under shelving units).
Corrective Action(s): Do a thorough cleaning in all hard to reach areas. Focus on the perimeter of the walls and under/behind large equipment such as coolers, freezers and shelving units.

Observation: Shelving unit above hand sink in back food preparation area still worn away and covered in saran wrap.

Comments

All violations noted during follow up are reoccurring issues. None of the required corrective actions were completed/rectified by follow up inspection. Closure Order issued at time of inspection due to reoccurring issues and premises not being able to operate safely. The premises is to remain closed until all outstanding items noted on the Closure Order have been completed and an inspection is conducted by Environmental Health Officer with Fraser Health Authority to rescind the Closure Order.
