Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSOP).
Evidence for this report was based on the Licensing Officer’s observations, review of the facility records and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.

The following areas were reviewed:
Licensing
Physical Facility
Staffing
Policies and Procedures
Care and supervision/Hygiene and medication
Nutrition
Program
Child Records and reporting

As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided to the facility.
The Risk Assessment includes any non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year ‘historical’ review of the facility’s compliance and operation and is used to determine inspection frequency.

Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR # have been corrected.
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice.

Observed Violations
No violations were found during the inspection.

Comments

The operation of the facility is in compliance with current regulations of the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA) and the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) apart from any listed above

On site today was the Manager and 1 other staff with 3 children.
Staff to child ratio was in compliance with regulations
There is a temporary placement currently in place for a child
Programming is posted and available for parent review - children's art work is displayed in the facility
Licensing observed Staff engaged with children during lunch time and free play. Staff were observed to use positive and appropriate language.
Licensing observed the children eating lunch and washing hands prior to free play.

Discussions with the Manager/Licensee:-
- Licensing reviewed care plan requirements with the Manager for any child requiring additional support
- Licensing provided information regarding the requirements of Section 37 of the CCLR's in terms of additional staff.
- Licensing recommends using appropriate equipment for mealtimes for all children
