Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP).
All areas of the facility were reviewed for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
CARE AND/OR SUPERVISION: 14030 - CCLR s.34(2)(b) - Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (b) the ratio of employees to children attending a community care facility is no less than that permitted in Schedule E.
Observation: There were 3 staff on site, however one staff did not meet qualification requirements as there is no valid ECE Assistant Certificate from the ECE Registry. Records indicate an application has been submitted to the ECE Registry.
Corrective Action(s): As discussed, please ensure all staff employed meet qualification requirements at time of employment or have an approved exemption in place for the staff plan.

Summary:
At today’s inspection there were 17 children and 3 staff present in the Group Child Care (30 months to school age) Program
There are 20 children are currently enrolled.

At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified.
Licensee is required to submit a corrective action plan to Licensing by the date below
Licensing will review and monitor the corrective action plan.
As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed and a copy was provided.

The following education/recommendations were provided through discussion:
- Staff exemption application requirements
- Active Supervision
- Reportable Incident reporting to Duty line: #604 587 3936 for emergencies if area Licensing Officer can’t be contacted.
- Log book records
