Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA) and the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
LICENSING: 10060 - CCLR s.11(3) - When advertising or otherwise offering services to the public, a licensee must identify the care program being offered.
Observation: Advertising posted at the facility indicates a type of care that the program is not licensed for.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure to advertise only the type of care that the facilty is licensed for.

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: Licensing observed several tears on a diaper change mat. The Licensee explained that she has plans to replace it.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that the equipment is in good repair while children are in attendance.

Comments

During this inspection, the above noted contravention was identified. As part of this Routine inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed.
The following was discussed with the Licensee during the inspection:
- Earthquake preparedness
The information contained in the report was discussed with the Licensee. Licensing emailed a copy of the report and the risk assessment to the facility.
