Introduction

An unscheduled inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19050 - CCLR s.56(1)(f) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (f) a log of minor accidents, illnesses and unexpected events involving children, that did not require medical attention and were not reportable incidents described in Schedule H.
Observation: When asked where the Licensee records minor accidents/incidents/illnesses, it was noted that book used for recordings was packed away, and has not yet been found. A new system has not been started either.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure there is a recording system for minor accidents/incidents/illnesses available at all times.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19160 - CCLR s.57(2)(i) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (i) a photograph or digital image of the child, and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency.
Observation: The Licensee states that photos are typically taken with a cell phone when on an outing, however photos are not captured at any other time.
Corrective Action(s): Individual photos or digital images must be available at all times children are in care

Comments

At the inspection dated June 25, 2021 there were 3 children and 1 staff present.
At this inspection the above noted contravention were identified. The Licensee/Manager will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer. The Licensing Officer will review the response.

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed. For this inspection the contents of the Facility Inspection Report and Risk Assessment were discussed on site, however were written off site, (time spent .50) and provided to the Licensee/Manager via email. No signatures were captured during today's inspection.
