Introduction

A unscheduled follow-up inspection to routine #NSAO-CRMRG9 was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). Areas of non-compliance identified at the last routine inspection were reviewed today.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection -
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19060 - CCLR s.57(1)(a)(b)(c) - A licensee must keep current records for each child showing (a) the information set out in subsection (2), (b) if applicable, the information and agreements set out in subsections (2.1) and (2.2), and (c) the consents referred to in subsection (3).
Observation: Upon reviewing registration files, the Licensee's child that is under 12 years old does not have a registration file. As per the Licensee, she was unaware that her child needed one. Licensing explained that her child is part of ratio and requires a registration file on-site.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that all children in care have a current registration file.
Date to be Corrected: Tuesday, August 8, 2023

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19090 - CCLR s.57(2)(c) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The Licensee's child that is under 12 years old was on-site today, but was not signed in. As per the Licensee, she did not know that she had to sign in/out her own child. Licensing explained that her child is part of ratio and whenever they are on-site must be signed in and out. The Licensee then recorded her child's attendance on the attendance sheet.

Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all children are signed in and out daily.
Date to be Corrected: Corrected During Inspection.

Comments

At the follow-up inspection, there were 6 children and the Licensee present.

The above noted contravention was identified and the Licensee is required to submit a compliance plan by the date below.

The following was discussed:

-Criminal record checks for individuals in the home that are over 12 years old
-Licensee's child as part of ratio and must be signed in/out when present & must have registration file on-site
