Introduction

An unscheduled follow up inspection to the Routine Inspection # SWAR-AS2MMD dated October 11th 2017 was conducted. Areas of non-compliance identified at the Routine Inspection were reviewed for compliance.

Licensee/Manager had responded to the coded items in writing.

The following contraventions have been addressed:
12040 - Criminal record checks are on file for all staff - one is not site specific
12050 - All staff files are complete with references
12070 - All staff have evidence of training on file
12140 - Validation of ECE certificates is in place for all staff (apart from a new staff due to start in April)
13100 - Active play policy is available for parents in the parent handbook
13120 - Screen time policy is available for parents in the parent handbook
19080 - Enrollment dates are in place for all children's files
19220 - Care plan is in place now and available for staff

Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR # have been corrected except for those noted on supplementary pages.
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
LICENSING: 10070 - CCLR s.11(4) - A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate, or a copy of the certificate, of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility.
Observation: Licensing observed that the Manager's ECE certificate was not posted. In it's place was a certificate of completion of ECE studies. Licensing observed the validation notice of the certification is in the staff files. Manager stated that she is not sure where her copy of certification is but it is due for renewal and as soon as it arrives it will be posted.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure copies of ECE certifications are posted at all times.

STAFFING: 12090 - CCLR s.19(1)(f) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed on review of staff files that the Manager is missing immunization status.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure staff files are complete
