Introduction

An unscheduled inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation: Licensing noted a checklist posted indicating the practise of fire drills however the last documented fire drill was May 2023. Licensing spoke with the senior staff member, and it appears that the fire drills have not been practised or recorded
Corrective Action(s): Staff will practise and record monthly fire drills with the children in care

At the inspection dated April 24, 2024 there were 10 children and 2 staff present.
At this inspection the above noted contravention were identified. The Licensee/Manager will take action to bring the facility into compliance, a written response is not requested at this time.

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed. For this inspection the contents of the Facility Inspection Report was discussed while on site, however the report was written off site therefore no signatures were obtained. The inspection report and risk assessment were provided to the Licensee representative and Manager via email.
