Introduction

An unscheduled inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation: Emergency evacuation kit included expired food, and the supplies were insufficient for eight children and one or more staff for 72 hours.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure to provide an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

Comments

At the inspection dated August 21, 2023 there were 6 children and the licensee present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified.
As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided to the facility along with this report. The Risk Assessment includes any non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year ‘historical’ review of the facility’s compliance and operation and is used to determine inspection frequency.
