Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP).
All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Contraventions

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12430 - CCLR s.56(1)(b) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (b) for each employee, the records required under section 19 (1) [character and skill requirements].
Observation: Licensing observed that a resume, references and immunization status were missing from the Manager file, as well as immunization status for a volunteer. Discussed the requirements of staff files to be available for review.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure any staff file is complete as per Section 19.(1)

Comments

At today’s inspection there were 8 children and the Licensee present.

At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified and the Licensee is required to provide a written response to Licensing by the date below.

As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy was provided to the facility along with this report.
The Risk Assessment includes any non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year ‘historical’ review of the facility’s compliance and operation and is used to determine inspection frequency.

The following was discussed:
- Valid CRC/s are available and reviewed expiry dates.
- Active Play promotion and outdoor play occurs daily
- Hygiene and sanitization practices and communicable disease plan
- Exemptions relating to staffing
- Emergency evacuation plan
- Lead in the water -flushing occurs
- Staff files
- Licensing Duty line: #604 587 3936 for emergencies if area Licensing Officer can’t be contacted.
- Regular review of BCCDC website for COVID-19 updates (see link below)
