Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation: During inspection Licensing noted that a fire drill was not completed for January, the fire drill records have been completed and updated for all other months prior and for February. Staff explained circumstances surrounding why January was missed.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure to practice and record a monthly fire drill.

Comments

At the inspection dated February 23, 2022 there were 20 children and 5 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The Manager will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer. The Licensing Officer will review the response. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. This inspection and the risk assessment were written off site and a copy was emailed to the facility


The following education/recommendations were provided:
- Continuing to follow Covid-19 safety procedures.
- Safe medication storage.
- Parents may record a walk-in clinic if a family doctor is not available.
