Introduction

A scheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: Licensing observed the following during today's inspection:
- In JK room there were 3 toy shelves that need to be secured from falling in the event of earthquake.
- Kitchen knives were accessible to children in a drawer near the sink in JK room. (corrected during inspection time.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that healthy and safe environemnt is provided at all times when children are in care.

Comments

At the inspection dated Feb.19, 2021, there were total 69 children in attendance in six different classrooms and 19 staff were working on site. At this inspection, the above noted contraventions were identified. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed.
A response in writing is required to be submitted to Licensing by February 26, 2021, outlining how the contravention(s) have been addressed

Licensing staff briefly reviewed Covid-19 infection control strategies and protocol.
Licensing staff completed Risk Screening –Covid -19 prior to inspection. This inspection report was written off site. A copy of inspection report and the risk assessment will be mailed to the facility.
