Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSOP).

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19070 - CCLR s.57(2)(a) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation: 19 children's files were reviewed; 9 children's MSP # were missing.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that all children's files are complete.

Comments

Summary of Inspection
At today’s inspection there were 35 children and 7 staff present. The Manager was onsite and assisted LO with today's inspection. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee is required to take corrective action to bring facility into compliance. As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed. This report was reviewed with the Manager and a copy was provided.
LO had the following discussion:
- Reference letters within staff's file: to conduct reference check and document indicating that character references were obtained in respect of the person by the licensee or manager as part of the hiring process.
