Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12160 - CCLR s.20(1) - The licensee must not permit a person over the age of 12 to be ordinarily present on the premises of a community care facility while children are present, unless the person is of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for that person.
Observation: The current homestay student does not have a criminal record check. As per the Licensee, she has not yet applied for one for the individual.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure any individual over the age of 12 that is ordinarily present at the facility has obtained a criminal record check.

Comments

At today's inspection, there were 4 children and the Licensee present.

At this inspection, the above noted contravention was identified and the Licensee is required to submit a compliance plan by the date below.

As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy was provided to the facility along with this report.
The Risk Assessment includes any non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year ‘historical’ review of the facility’s compliance and operation and is used to determine inspection frequency.

The following was discussed:
-Written consent to be obtained from parents to drive children in Licensee's vehicle
-Transportation Policy available
-Field Trip/Walks safety measures, including: Field Trip/Walk consent forms and Field Trip schedule available
-Snack menu available to parents
-System for replenishing emergency supplies and food + First Aid kit supplies
-Use of logbook
-Daily programming, including outdoor time
-Daily outdoor safety checks
-Hand hygiene practices
-Valid CRC available for Licensee, reviewed expiry date
-Licensing Duty line: #604 587 3936 for emergencies if area Licensing Officer can’t be contacted.
-Regular review of BCCDC website for COVID-19 updates (see link below)
