As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided to the facility.
The Risk Assessment includes any non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year ‘historical’ review of the facility’s compliance and operation and is used to determine inspection frequency.

Comments

The operation of the facility is in compliance with current regulations of the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA) and the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) apart from any listed above

On site today was the Manager and a second staff. Both were ECE certified.
Staff to child ratio was in compliance with regulations - 19 children were in attendance today.
Programming is posted and available for parent review on a notice board in the cubby area.

Licensing observed Staff engaged with children during circle time and acknowledges the use of physical literacy and active play during the circle. Staff were observed to teach children how to jump and balance on one foot at intervals to break up the amount of time sitting at circle as well as a game of switching positions to create movement. Appropriate guidance techniques and language were used to address behaviours.

Licensing observed the variety of the circle which included recall, math, phonics and stories and singing. An art activity was presented for the children to take part in after the circle.
Licensing observed the children in circle and during free play in which children were happy to share their thoughts on the program and what areas they enjoyed best. There were a variety of activities set out on tables for the children which meets Schedule G. Outdoor play is a daily occurrence.

Discussions with the Manager:-
- Licensing reviewed enrolment and class sizes with the Manager
- Licensing recommends ensuring that parents are providing ice/cool packs in children's snack bags to ensure food remains healthy and safe for consumption at snack time as there is not a fridge available at the facility.
- The Corporation now has stickers for each facility which identifies where care plans, first aid, etc is kept. This makes it an easy visual reference for any staff, particularly substitute staff, to locate the necessary information in an emergency.
No concerns or safety issues noted at today's inspection.
