Violation Score: 3

308 - Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces are not in good working order [s. 16(b)]
Observation: Multiple Observations:
1) Garbage lid needs to be touched in order to place items, including hand towels from hand washing, into the receptacle. This recontaminates hands.
2) There is a leak under the water filtration unit that is attracting flies. This will eventually lead to damage of the area.
3) The Coffee brewing station was constructed in such a way that it is slightly elevated from ground level. The bottom surface is already damaged from the moisture of this area and now the surface has been damaged and has to be repaired/replaced as the particle board is exposed.
The front faceplate that was installed to prevent shoe contamination to the area has broken off.
This area was the subject of great concern during the initial opening inspection. It is already showing signs of it not being ideally suited to this area as was discussed during opening inspections.
.
Corrective Action(s): Required Actions:
1) Remove lid from garbage so that materials can be added to the bin without requiring the unit to be touched by a staff hand
2) Make repairs to the water filtration unit. Water is collecting.
3) Repair the area at once such that it is as per the opening day. If the unit can not be repaired then relocate the coffee brewing station.
.
Violation Score: 9
