Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP).
All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Contraventions

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12200 - CCLR s.22(2)(c) - A licensee must ensure that each employee (c) practices implementing the emergency plan at least once each year.
Observation: In conversation with the Licensee, it was evident that the annual emergency drill had not been practiced. The intent of the regulation was further discussed.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the emergency drill is practiced annually and recorded as discussed.

Comments

At today’s inspection there were 5 children and the Licensee present.

Licensing conducted a full walk through of the whole home

At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified.

The Licensee is required to address the contraventions to bring the facility back into compliance and provide a written response to Licensing by the date below.

As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy was provided to the facility along with this report.
The Risk Assessment includes any non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year ‘historical’ review of the facility’s compliance and operation and is used to determine inspection frequency.

The following was discussed:
- Valid CRC/s are available and reviewed expiry dates.
- Active Play utilizing the yard as well as the modified garage space
- Hygiene and sanitization practices and communicable disease plan
- Emergency evacuation plan
- Lead in the water – results received
- Hot water regulation
- Licensing Duty line: #604 587 3936 for emergencies if area Licensing Officer can’t be contacted.
- Regular review of BCCDC website for COVID-19 updates (see link below)
