Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSOP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13010 - CCLR s.22(1)(a) - A licensee must have all of the following: (a) emergency exits and a fire drill system approved by a local assistant within the meaning of the Fire Services Act.
Observation: LO observed and discussed the following with the Manager: the fire extinguisher was due for annual inspection (expired tag). Manager said that it was serviced in December 2020, and new tag will be obtained.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that facility fire extinguisher gets serviced and tagged annually.

Comments

On the inspection date of March 3, 2021 there were 3 children and 1 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified. The Manager/ Licensee will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response by below date to Licensing for review.
As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool. This inspection and the risk assessment were written off site and a copy was provided to the facility via email the same, therefore no signature attached.
