Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation: During the routine inspection the manager mentioned that the facility does not have any food in their emergency preparedness kit. Manager said that she was not aware that the facility need to have food and water to prepare, mitigate, respond and recover from any emergency. Education was provided it was mentioned that the facility should have enough food and water to prepare, mitigate, respond and recover in case of an emergency.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that you are prepared for, ready to mitigate, respond and recover from any emergency.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19080 - CCLR s.57(2)(b) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.
Observation: During the routine inspection 5 children's files were reviewed and 3 children's files were missing an enrollment date.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that all children's files are complete.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: During the routine inspection 5 children's files were reviewed and one child's file was missing a doctor's name and phone number. Manager said that the family is new to the area and have not yet secured a family doctor.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all children's files are complete.

Comments

At the inspection dated October 14, 2022 there were 10 children and 1 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Actions required by the licensee and actions required the LO included here. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

The following education/recommendations were provided:
· Promoting Active Play in the program
· Education was provided regarding the Log book and how minor incidents should be captured.
· Education was provided regarding Anaphylaxis care plan. Copy was provided via email.
· Education was provided regarding behavioural care plans,
· Active Supervision
· Lead in the Water

· Reportable incident forms
