Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSOP).

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation: No records were available for facility's yearly emergency drills. Staff indicated that lock down drill was practiced with the children recently.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure all emergency drills are practiced with the children and recorded accordingly.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19030 - CCLR s.55(2)(a) - A licensee must notify the medical health officer within 24 hours after (a) a child is involved in, or may have been involved in, a reportable incident described in Schedule H while under the care or supervision of the licensee.
Observation: Licensee did not notify the licensing officer within 24 hours that a child was involved in or may have been involved in a reportable incident as described in Schedule H as required.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure all reportable incidents are reported to Licensing within 24 hrs.

Summary of Inspection
At today’s inspection there were 5 children and 1 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee is required to take corrective action to bring the facility into compliance As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed. This report was reviewed with the staff and a copy was provided.
The following education/recommendations were provided in regards to:
-Cleaning and Sanitizing Practices
-Reportable Incidents Process; Duty Line: 604-587-3936
-Emergency drill Record
