Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19260 - CCLR s.58(2)(b) - The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
Observation: During inspection Licensing observed that a care plan's last review date was July 29, 2020.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure to review child's care plan at least once a year with the child's parent.

Comments

At the inspection dated September 15, 2021 there were 9 children and 3 staff present in the GCC 30 months to school age program and 5 children and 2 staff present in the GCC under 30 months program. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The Manager will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer. The Licensing Officer will review the response. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

The following education/recommendations were provided:

- Continuing to follow Covid-19 safety procedures.
- Having a system in place for checking staff references.
- Immunization status required is "yes" or "no" the whole document is not a Licensing requirement.
- Dr's name and telephone number may be from a walk in clinic.
- Ensuring to maintain child to staff ratio and appropriate supervision during the first and last half hour of the day.
