Introduction

A scheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP).
The following areas were reviewed for compliance:
- Licensing
- Physical Facility
- Care and supervision
- Hygiene practices
- Program
- Reporting

Observed Violations
No violations were found during the inspection.

Comments

Summary of Inspection

At today’s inspection there were 5 children and 3 staff present in the Group Child Care (30 months to school age) program (GCC 30-sa)
The Manager was also on site.
Low enrolment due to pandemic.
Currently only the main GCC (30-sa) room is being used for care.

Licensing reviewed the facility’s COVID-19 prevention strategies and noted the following:
- Health and safety system in place in response to Pandemic
- Hygiene practices are posted for staff and meet the Provincial Health Officer guidelines
- Outdoor areas are limited to ensure safety but allow for social distancing
- Napping areas are expanded to provide further separation

At this inspection no contraventions were identified.
As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed and a copy was provided.

The following education/recommendations were provided through discussion:
- Requirements of Temporary Placement queries and staffing concerns. A proposed plan for the mixing of groups in relation to enrolment numbers and staffing limitations has been approved by Licensing should it be required during the pandemic.
- Reportable Incident reporting to Duty line: #604 587 3936 for emergencies if area Licensing Officer can’t be contacted.
- Active Play promotion in safe spaces

Facility has been receiving Licensing Officer’s emails.
