Introduction

An unscheduled inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12200 - CCLR s.22(2)(c) - A licensee must ensure that each employee (c) practices implementing the emergency plan at least once each year.
Observation: During inspection, Licensing observed that there is no sheet available to record and date the annual emergency plan practice.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that the annual emergency plan practice is recorded and dated.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19070 - CCLR s.57(2)(a) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation: Licensing reviewed children's records and noted that one child is missing immunization status information.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure immunization status information is on file for the child who currently does not have it on file.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: Licensing reviewed children's records and noted that one child is missing doctor/medical clinic information.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure doctor/medical clinic information is on file for the child who currently does not have it on file.

Comments

At the inspection dated Mar. 11, 2021 there were 6 children and 2 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Actions required by the licensee include providing a written response.

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

A COVID-19 Risk Screening was also completed.

Licensing conducted a walk-through of the entire facility.

The following education/recommendations were provided:
- Bound notebook for minor incident logs
- Continue to follow COVID-19 policy and procedures
- Playing outdoors for longer periods of time
- Ensure that the fire extinguisher tag with the service date is clearly displayed
- Removing items with a DIN in the first aid kit
- More spacing when storing mats & bedding
- Check for expired items in the emergency supplies
