Introduction

An unscheduled first routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSOP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: LO observed and discussed the following with staff:
- cleaning supplies were stored on washroom counter and accessible to children (corrected on site)
- location of the gate installed on top of the stairs poses tripping hazard
- loose wooden planks stored within the playground and accessible to children
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are in care
Date to be Corrected: June 1, 2023

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: 4 children files were reviewed; 2 children's Dr information were missing.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure all children files are complete.

Summary of Inspection

At today’s inspection there were 2 children and 1 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee is required to address cited items to bring the facility in compliance. As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy was provided to the facility along with this report.

The following were discussed:
-Outdoor playground log ( for all inspection, repair and maintenance)
-Minor incident log
-Emergency consent cards
-Sunscreen application
