Introduction

An unscheduled follow-up inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP).

Contraventions

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19080 - CCLR s.57(2)(b) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During the follow-up inspection 7 children's files were reviewed and one child's file was missing an enrollment date.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all children's files are complete.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19210 - CCLR s.58(1)(a) - A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (a) the diagnoses relevant to the child's requirement for extra support, as made by health care professionals.
Observation: During the follow-up inspection 7 children's files were reviewed and one child who was allergic to peanuts required a care plan, however a care plan was not available. Anaphylaxis care plan was shared with the licensee and education was provided regarding care plans being reviewed annually.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all children requiring extra support have a care plan on site.

Comments

At the inspection dated October 11, 2022 there were 5 children and 1 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Actions required by the licensee and actions required the LO included here.

The following education/recommendations were provided:
· Promoting Active Play in the program
· Temporary Placements
· Active Supervision
· Lead in the Water

The following resources were provided:
· Reportable Incident Bulletin
· Reportable incident forms
· Anaphylaxis Care plan was sent via email
