Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During inspection, 8 individually wrapped half-cut squash (pumpkin) were observed in the reach in cooler for sale. Operator stated that he is aware that he requires approval from Fraser Health prior to processing food onsite and will not pursue this in future. Operator voluntarily discarded above noted potentially hazardous food.
Corrective Action(s): If you wish to cut/package vegetables for sale in future, please submit a written food safety plan to your district EHO for approval.

Comments

Routine inspection conducted.

Findings:
- General sanitation of the facility was satisfactory.
- Temperature of coolers recorded at or below 4C
- Freezers at or below -18C
One freezer was turned off and not in use.
- Walk in cooler at 3C
- Walk in freezer at -19C
- Handwash sink available in the back and had adequate supply of hot and cold running water, liquid soap and single use paper towels.
- 3 compartment dishwashing sink available in the back.
- Food was stored at least 6 inches off the floor.
- No signs of pest activity observed.

Recommendations:
- Do not overstock coolers/freezers as overstocking them would result in inadequate cold air circulation.
- Please contact your district EHO for health approval if you wish to process/package pumpkin/squash onsite.
