209 - Food not protected from contamination [s. 12(a)]
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Coconut shavings were stored on the floor under a trolley of food. This a continuing violation.
Corrective Action(s): All foods must be stored in a manner which prevents potential contamination. Foods are to be stored off the ground and covered. Coconut shavings were discarded at the time of inspection. Continued improper storage of foods in a manner which prevents potential contamination will result in the issuance of a violation ticket.

304 - Premises not free of pests [s. 26(a)]
Observation: Fly issue has not improved in the facility. There appears to be an increase in the number of flies. Operator has contacted professional pest control operator, who stated they can only place fly tape in the facility.
Corrective Action(s): Facility must be free of pests. If current pest control operator is unable to control the pest population in the facility, it is recommended the operator contract the services of an alternate pest control operator. In two weeks, operator must have a plan in place to reduce the pest population. Ensure fly tape is not placed above food, food/equipment storage, or food preparation areas.

Comments

-Facility has been serviced by a Professional Pest Control operator, who stated they cannot control the fly population. Pest control operator has recommended the use of fly tape. If the current pest control operator is unable to control the pest population, it is recommended the operator consult an alternate pest control operator for a second opinion.
-Temporary permit was hand delivered to the operator for Rakhri (August 14 to 15, 2019). Temporary Permit must be posted in a visible location. In the future, Temporary permit applications which are not submitted at least 14 days prior to the event may not be processed (submission instructions stated on the application form).
