Introduction

An unscheduled follow up inspection to the Routine Inspection # SWAR-AVKTV2 dated February 1st 2018 was conducted. Areas of non-compliance identified at the Routine Inspection were reviewed for compliance.

Licensee/Manager had responded to the coded items in writing.

The following contraventions have been addressed:
11010 - Walls have been re-painted and no paint chips visible. Electrical sockets are covered.
11090 - Emergency exits were clear at time of inspection
11200 - Bleach bottles are labelled and inaccessible to children
12090 - Immunization for staff is now complete
12140 - Staff validation is now in place for all staff
12430 - Staff criminal record clearances are on site - new staff is not site specific but a sharing form has been applied for
14020 - Licensee contact stated that children are grouped as per regulations. This was evident at today's inspection
14030 - A staffing plan was submitted and approved for exemption
14360 - Capacity remains as per licensing regulations. Future retentions have been discussed at length.
15030 - Licensee contact stated that bedding is kept separated
19090 - Attendance records are now accurate. Licensing recommends ensuring they are labelled appropriately for each room
19160 - Children's photographs are all in place
19188 - All children's files are on site.
Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR #SWAR-AVKTV2 have been corrected except for those noted on supplementary pages.
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.
Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12060 - CCLR s.19(1)(c) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (c) a record of the person's work history.
Observation: On review of a new staff file, Licensing observed that this file was missing a resume. Licensee contact stated that a resume was received but has not been printed off and added to the file
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure staff files are always complete at time of enrolment

Comments

On site today was the Licensee contact and 6 staff with 19 children.
No other concerns identified at todays inspection.
