Introduction

An unscheduled follow-up inspection was conducted to follow-up on contraventions identified at the routine inspection #CLAN-CFDTMC.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: The following was observed in the washroom of the facility:
-Behind the toilet there was visible dirt
-A layer of dust was observed on the heater in the washroom
-There were stains on the floor in the washroom
-Several puncture marks were observed on the floor tiles in the washroom. These could potentially harbour bacteria.
These items were not corrected by the date specified on the routine inspection. This is a repeat contravention.

The following was observed in the play area of the facility:
-Several puncture marks were observed on the plastic floor mats. These could potentially harbour bacteria. This is a repeat contravention from inspection #CLAN-B44PS9 and the most recent routine inspection #CLAN-CFDTMC.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the facility and items in it are clean and in good repair

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11200 - CCLR s.17 - A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation: The following was observed inside the facility:
A rust mark was observed on the floor of the washroom. Upon further inspection the rust was dripping from the toilet. Rust can present a potential health hazard. This was not completed by the date specified on the routine inspection. This is a repeat contravention.
The following was observed in the outdoor area of the facility:
-a small swing set had rusty chains on it. This was located at the children's level. Rust can present a potential health hazard. This was not completed by the date specified on the routine inspection. This is a repeat contravention.

Please provide active supervision around this area until this is corrected.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure children do not have access to any objects or substances that may be harmful to their health and safety.

Comments

At the inspection dated July 21, 2022 there were five children, and 2 staff were present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Please correct the above noted contraventions by July 28, 2022 unless otherwise specified in the report.
The following education/recommendations were provided:
-Sun safety information
-The communicable disease protocols that are in place
-Active supervision.
A copy of this report was sent to the Manager as she was not on site during the inspection. Business cards were provided to the staff on site.
