Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP).
All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Contraventions

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: In the outdoor play area, Licensing observed that the following:
- tool shed door was open - garden tools accessible to children
- hose and electric cable along pathway - concern of a tripping hazard
In the indoor area, the diaper change mat has some tiny tears which is a cause for cross contamination
Corrective Action(s): Licensee will ensure a safe environment and will change the diaper change pad. Please provide a corrective action plan.

At today’s inspection there were seven children and the Licensee present.
Licensing conducted a full walk through of the whole home

At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified.
The Licensee is required to address the contraventions to bring the facility back into compliance and provide a written response to Licensing by the date below.

As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy was provided to the facility along with this report.
The Risk Assessment includes any non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year ‘historical’ review of the facility’s compliance and operation and is used to determine inspection frequency.

The following was discussed:
- Valid CRC/s are available/being renewed and reviewed expiry dates.
- Active Play promotion and outdoor play
- Hygiene and sanitization practices using the bathroom
- Emergency evacuation plan to include secondary location
- Incident reporting
- Licensing Duty line: #604 587 3936 for emergencies if area Licensing Officer can’t be contacted.
- Regular review of BCCDC website for COVID-19 updates (see link below)
