Introduction

A scheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). In response to the current Covid 19 pandemic this inspection focused on the following areas:
-Physical Facility
-Health and Hygiene
-Records and Reporting

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation: The record of fire drills was reviewed. One fire drill was not recorded for January. An emergency drill was completed for the month of January. In discussion with the Manager she stated the fire drill was practiced but it was not recorded.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure to complete and record fire drills on a monthly basis.

Comments

At the inspection dated May 26, 2020 there was 1 child, and the Manager was present. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified. Please ensure you have addressed the above noted contravention by June 2, 2020. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy was sent to the Manager.

The following was reviewed/discussed with the Manager:

· Information sent out to the Licensee regarding the following: sanitization/disinfection, social distancing, hand washing and health and wellness policy.
· The coronavirus COVID-19 public health guidance for child care settings
· Moving the play structure in the outdoor play area away from the fence.

The following resource was given to the Manager:

· Resource Package for Child Care facilities COVID-19 prevention

The inspection findings were reviewed with the Manager at the inspection. The inspection report and the risk assessment were completed at the Burnaby Health Protection office. The report was written in .5 hours and this is included in the report. A copy of these documents were sent to the Manager.
