Observation: Permit to operate was posted in the preparation room viewable to employees only and therefore was not posted in a conspicuous location visible to customers.
Corrective Action(s): It was reviewed with Manager to re-locate the permit so that it is posted in a conspicuous location visible to customers; Correct within 1 week.

502 - In operator’s absence, no staff on duty has FOODSAFE Level 1 or equivalent [s. 10(2)]
Observation: Single staff member initially on duty in the absence on the Operator at the time of inspection reported she did not have valid FOODSAFE Level 1/equivalent course training. This is a repeat violation. Manager mentioned over phone that this staff member is newly hired and she would register her for the FOODSAFE Level 1 course. Second staff member who arrived later on shift informed she does not have FOODSAFE Level 1 training, but is scheduled to take the FOODSAFE Level 1 course tomorrow.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure at least one staff member on duty in the absence of the Operator maintains valid FOODSAFE Level 1/equivalent course training. Ensure enough staff register for this course to fulfill this requirement and provide an update to the district Environmental Health Officer of Fraser Health within 1 month. Maintain records of FOODSAFE Level 1 certificates for staff on-site. Refer to www.FOODSAFE.ca for information on FOODSAFE Level 1 courses.

Comments

Handsink was supplied with liquid soap, hot and cold running water, and single-use paper towels.
Walk-in-cooler (2.3 degrees C), under-the-counter cooler and sandwich prep. cooler were at or below 4 degrees C.
Walk-in-freezer was at or below -18 degrees C.
Hot-held food was at or above 60 degrees C.
3-compartment sink was supplied with hot and cold running water.
No signs of recent pest activity were evident at the time of inspection.
Tomato slicer in the storage area was in a clean condition. Second slicer was observed inside the first compartment sink for ware-washing.
Food storage areas appeared clean and organized.
200 ppm QUATS sanitizer was available inside the labelled spray bottle and from the dispenser at the ware-washing sink. Staff confirmed they use QUATS sanitizer for prep. surfaces, food equipment, and food contact surfaces.
Peroxide multi surface disinfectant and cleaner RTU was available on-site; it is used on dining room tables/chairs only as per staff.
Chemical test strips were not available on-site at time of inspection. Please obtain chemical test strips to regularly check and ensure the concentration of both the Quaternary ammonium compounds (QUATS) sanitizer and the peroxide multi surface disinfectant and cleaner is in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations.
Signature is not required on this report due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
